Cards news: June 23 -- OF Julks acquired from White Sox for catcher Jansen
The St. Louis Cardinals have acquired veteran outfielder Corey Julks from the Chicago White Sox in exchange for catcher Danny Jansen.
Julks, 31, has split this season between the majors and AAA Charlotte.
In 19 games/one start with the White Sox, he has hit .429 with one home run and seven RBIs
At AAA, he has played in 14 games/11 starts and hit .245 with two home runs and two RBIs.
In 266 MLB games, 203 starts, Julks has hit .258 with 21 home runs and 95 RBIs.
Acquired in the offseason to be the backup catcher, Jansen has struggled in his time in St. Louis.
In 18 games/17 starts, he has hit just .154 with one home run and one RBI.
He has fared better at AAA Memphis, where in 15 games/14 starts, he hit .311 with three homes and eight RBIs.
Jansen requested this trade and the Cardinals complied.
