(In the first game of the double-header, the Mets trailed 6-1 entering the 7th, tied it up, and won that one in 12 as well. Yes, once upon a time, baseball had things called "double-headers" and "extra innings" and gosh! Games might go beyond their designated time-slots! Horrors!  )
Unfortunately, I've never been able to find film of this Sunday double-header (which I didn't see but I recall listening to on the radio at our swim club), but here's the game from the Friday before. Tom Seaver vs. John Candelaria, pretty good match-up. |
DeLeon, REPEATEDLY, gave up a two run homer in the seventh, to lose 2-1. Dude just didn't get run support.
