Yes -- this is what is happening. When the game is first loaded in 3d mode, it creates all the pictures as each PA is taking place -- which leads to the laggy feel. In later innings, after the facegen exists, it does not (until relievers are brought in). This still happens even when I force OOTP to generate/update pictures in settings before first pitch.
