I'm not sure if my exact situation is the same as the OP, but if I switch between different views on ANY screen that displays multiple players in a list, not just MLB / transactions page, and then try to get back to the default view, it seems there are two "default" views. One which shows overall/potential and other batting or pitching ratings, and one which shows overall/potential and then other columns like years of service, salary, contract years remaining... among others.
I use that screen more but it is not the normal "default" screen.
If I want to get to that view, the only way I've found that works is to go to MLB/transactions/waivers and then select default view.
If you don't change your view after that then it shows the default view with salary and years of service, etc
