Cards news: July 19 -- Three Cardinals minor leaguers named to Prospects Game
Infielder Boston Baro, starting pitcher Bradley Loftin and relief pitcher Zach Showalter have been named to the National League roster for the Prospects Game.
Acquired in an off-season trade with the Mets, 21, Baro has had an impressive season at AAA Memphis where in 89 games/87 starts, he has batted .319 with 12 home runs, 52 RBIs and 59 runs scored.
The sixth-overall pick in the 2025 MLB draft by St. Louis, Loftin, 22, has gone 0-4 with a 9.37 ERA in 10 starts for the Cardinals Rookie League team in the Florida Gulf Coast League.
The right-hander has pitched 32.2 innings, during which he has struck out 54 and posted a 2.39 WHIP.
Showalter, 22, is the closer for the same team.
In 19 games, he is 0-1 with 13 saves and a 2.20 ERA.
He has pitched 16.1 innings, during which he has struck out 24 and has a 1.84 WHIP.
