Two things. First: I could not stand the anemic bat of
David Cooper any longer. Second:
Brzezinski is 24, he either can swim at the MLB level, or will drown. I was very tempted to call up
Castellanos for
Snider and
Hatfield for
Goins and
Suarez for… you get the point, but one at a time, and by age.
Also, while
Cooper was a black hole, the rest of the lineup does one thing very well. DEFENSE. How they managed to push this makeshift rotation to lead the AL in starters ERA is beyond me, but may the magic continue. For example,
Jake Marisnick may be hitting .205, but he is soo good on defense that he is a positive 2 WAR… insane.
On the pitching side,
Carlos Carrasco is not going to be resigned. The only reason he is still in the rotation is that our AAA kids are not ready yet, but his stamina is a big concern and we will replace him with someone better next year…
Some very early thoughts on the development lab…
Archer is showing some promise and I think we need to sent him to the control program once again to unlock his full potential,
Brzezinski is an option now that he is here, and so is
Stroman… that is three slots filled by our MLB roster.

So, bad news first. AAA LHP
Blake Snell is out for the year with a torn flexor tendon in his elbow. Scratch him from our list of prospects I’d say.
Now, to the good news.
Eugenio Suárez has broken the 2.5* barrier in AAA and is hitting .329-8-35 .906OPS 2.9WAR in 95 games and is well underway to audition for a job next spring, maybe as a DH?
More good news? Our draft picks have all signed, LHSP
Jeremy Komosinski was rated the #2 prospect in MLB’s top 100 Live list, and surprisingly enough, RHRP
Joe Szczygiel(23, 2.5/5*) #14 as a reliever… His nickname is “The Incredible Hulk” by the way. He is on a fast track to the majors as well at age 23 and with the stuff he has, and since we have some junky ERA’s in the bullpen this season, there is room…
The sad and sorry truth is tho, we assembled way more talent via the draft and the international amateur free agents then by the trades we made.
