Hanshin indeed exists, but it is a region, not a city. It "refers generally to Osaka, Kobe, and the surrounding area in the Kansai region of Japan."
But yes, you are right that *** and KBO teams are named for corporate sponsors, and yes, the Hanshin Tigers are owned by Hanshin Electric Railway. But apparently that company is named for the region of Hanshin. (As are a bunch of other businesses in the area, as you will
see if you follow that Wikipedia link.)
EDIT: Ha, ha! You see those stars? It's because I used the acronym — let's see if THIS gets starred — for the Japanese professional baseball league.
