2025 Draft Class

1/6 - LHP Ben Jacobs 21yo out of Arizona State. He projects to be a top of the rotation starter that could anchor a playoff team for a decade. Current velocity sits at around 93mph and tops out at 95 with potential to gain a few ticks. He offers an excellent array of pitches with all 4 of his offerings graded at above average or better including 3 plus pitches.

2/7 - RHP Myles Upchurch 18yo out of St. Albans HS. Although just 18 he’s already ahead many of his peers in development and could reach the majors quicker than your typical high schooler. He projects to slot in as a solid #3 starter. Doesn’t stand out with velocity but repeats his delivery well and keeps the ball in the park. He works off 3 above average pitches.

2/30 - C Caden Bodine 21yo out of Coastal Carolina University. Defensively projects to be above average and room to improve. Offensively he’s a patient hitter who draws a lot of walks and doesn’t strike out a ton. Will likely be a hit over power guy but can deliver 10-15 HR/year. Unfortunately doesn’t offer anything on the basepaths but overall a solid player that should develop into a starting catcher at the MLB level.

3/7 - SS Kolby Branch 22yo out of University of Georgia. Drafted as a SS but the Pirates see him as a 2B/3B with the potential to play LF. Branch is a solid defender and could improve his play and potentially play SS in the future which would increase his value. The Bucs think they got a steal in the 3rd round and think with the proper coaching and training Kolby could develop into a 5 tool prospect. He does everything well enough that if he stays on schedule and progresses he should have a solid MLB career as a starter or at least a super utility role player.
