For 25, I used 100-0-0-0 from the start of the season until mid-July. Then I'd go to 35-35-20-10 (or something along those lines) up until trading deadline day (apply changes now and recalculate GM tendencies), after which I'd go back to 100-0-0-0. Once the offseason started, I'd go to 35-0-35-30 (assuming that "current year stats) no longer applied. Once the new season started, I reverted back to 100-0-0-0.
What I noticed with this setup is that the AI almost never waived/released good or semi-good minor leaguers, which had previously happened regularly and annoyed me greatly.
The great thing about OOTP is that there isn't just one way to enjoy the game. And I appreciate the insights from users such as yourself who have much more experience than I do. Thank you!

No need to switch during the season. Unless things have changed recently, the distribution is prorated based on IP and PA.
FYI, ratings will always matter, even at 0, it's like a fail-safe.
