Cards news: July 13 -- SP Gray, RP Helsley and 3B Gorman are NL All-Stars

The St. Louis Cardinals have learned that three of their players -- starting pitcher Sonny Gray, closer Ryan Helsley and third baseman Nolan Gorman -- will be members of the National League roster for the upcoming All-Star game.
It is the fourth time Gray has been an All-Star, but his first time as a Cardinal.
In 20 starts this season, the 36-year-old has gone 7-6 with a 3.19 ERA. He has pitched 115.2 innings, during which he has struck out 122 and posted a 1.05 WHIP.
Selected by the fans, this will be the third time Helsley, 30, has represented St. Louis at the All-Star game.
Despite some recent struggles, he has blown his last three save opportunities and in his last appearance gave up a pair of runs in the ninth inning of a tie game, Helsley ranks near the top of the save list with 19.
For the season, he has pitched in 30 games going 2-5 with a 6.00 ERA. He has pitched 27.0 innings, in that time he has struck out 30 and had a 1.74 WHIP.
Helsley has five blown saves.
When the off-season trade of Nolan Arenado opened the third-base job, Gorman ran with it.
In 87 games/85 starts, the 25-year-old has hit .273 with 19 home runs, 48 RBIs and 45 runs scored.
Gorman, a first-time All-Star, has got on base at a .361 clip and is slugging .491.
