Enter a large tournament and upon completion, view and/or download the Sortable Stats.You will instantly see which players are used most often. Then, if you are an Excel junkie, you can download them every so often and use a vLookup function to total up stats to REALLY see not just who's popular, but who actually performs well.

I'll say this, using an Excel spreadsheet, you can see there are many "meta" players who are not nearly as good as many think they are.

BTW, that still doesn't mean I've been any more successful at winning tourneys, lol.
