Expos and Red Devils Trade Six Players!
stadiumreport.bbn
June 1st, 2022

Proving the old adage that one man's trash is another man's treasure, the Expos announced today the acquisition of 19-year old minor league C Andy Beckmann(R, 19, 0.5/2.5* .184-1-2 .500OPS) and 24-year old minor league RHRP Dustin Jenkins(24, 2.5*, 0-0 1SVB 0.67 14K 13.1IP 0.3WAR) from the San Francisco Red Devils.

In exchange, the Red Devils receive 20-year old minor league RHSP Matt Porter(A, 20, 1.5/2.5*, 3-3 2.21 43K 0.5WAR), 30-year old RHRP Ryan Rasbach(30, 2.5*, 0-2 3.60 34K 0.1WAR), 26-year old minor league 2B David Quiros(AAA, 26, 2.5*, .241-0-1 .611OPS 0.0WAR), and 27-year old CF Brian Schill(27, 2*, .257-3-10 .689OPS 0.9WAR). "This isn't the deal of the century," acknowledged the Expos, "but we think it will improve the direction of both teams."

In corresponding moves, the Montreal Expos signed free agent CF Chris Allen(24, 2/2.5*) and put him on the major league roster. The former 13th round pick hit .167 in 18 games with Cincinnati this season and .280 with Oakland last season, but was eventually released four days ago.

Dustin Jenkins was placed on the 40-man and activated to take the roster spot of Ryan Rasbach. A 23rd round pick in 2019, the righty shot through the minors, never posting an ERA over 2.50 and posting positive WAR values every season.

Dead wood. Ryan Rasbach had to be packaged with something that had value, and we decided that Matt Porter was something that has value. He is the #231 prospect and was as high as #66 last year, but his star has fallen a lot since then as his secondary pitches had continued to falter, and I have a strong opinion about starters with a stamina rating below 50…

Dave Quiros was done with us and was only taking a roster spot in AAA as we have a duo of strong 2B in AA, and Brian Schill is slated for $2M in arbitration next season… too much for a 2* backup outfielder, albeit a flashy one.

News:
Nick Schluter was claimed by Memphis, so he is gone, and good news, RF Ian Messer made miracle recovery and will be back in four days.
