December 2021 Transactions

December 1:

Tsapna have signed SS Kysatse Nysotof to a deal worth an average of $2.2 million, over 7 years. Nysotof has never played at the EL level before, or even the 2L. That'd be fine if he were a backup, but I think Tsapna are pencilling him in for the starting role. Just seems weird to have a contract this long at this low of a salary.

December 2:

Someone who had been considered one of the best players outside the EL, and especially outside the top 2 tiers, Pasataki have acquired SS Atsi Keana from Moonside BC for not very much return. Keana is a phenomenal player, a great defender across the infield and a power threat at the dish. Because he is still on his amateur contract, the Galaxy only owe him $1.3 million this season. The only downside is that Pasataki only has a single year of team control, but now plenty of time to work on an extension.

December 4:

Nokelto have signed 19-year-old 1B Fukle Tsitysho, formerly of BK Whales Punem (SL1, tier 5). Tsitysho had 50+ HR in his three seasons in Kiwa Punem (the same city where Kepmem play). He probably steps in as an average EL 1B.

December 6:

Kepmem pull in one of the top free agents, signing LF Faruo Ayekrea following his opt out from the Mighty Oaks. Ayekrea agrees to take just 4 years and $36 million, a bit less than I thought he'd get. Kepmem have a very strong core now, just need the supplementary pieces.

December 10:

Sitache sign OF Monisho Hefie, formerly of 2L Onesti. The 22-year-old steps up to the big time for the first time. He has actually won the Second League MVP award 3 times already in his young career, so it's time for the next step.

December 13:

Hokrof sign former National SP Atsi Lapa, 7 years at an average of $8.9 million per year. A solid sinkerballer, Lapa is just 23 and potentially has some more developing to do, but is already a better-than-average EL pitcher.

December 14:

An interesting intra-EL trade, Akashemo trade their top SP from a year ago, Somashe Renlese, to Keleri in exchange for SP/RP Pusituli Yutepe & RP Soralone Narupu. Yutepe entered the Keleri rotation midseason, and garnered a mention earlier on this page when he shut out the Shunna Eagles in July. Yutepe is also four years younger than Renlese, probably a factor for Akashemo.

December 15:

Reigning Reliever of the Year Monon Watafo leaves Akashemo to sign with National, for two years/$4.2 million.

December 22:

LF Kiowu Rorale, who played nearly every game for Tsapna over the past five seasons, signs for National for 5 years at an average of $8.7 million per year. National is definitely going for it!

December 30:

The top remaining available amateur free agent, RP Fumiecho Hakoheso, signs with Tsapna. Hakoheso will be limited to bullpen use due to his profile, but he could be one of the all-time great relievers.

That seems to be the list of key transactions for December. The offseason is half over now, and a lot of key free agents are still out there!
