Recalc (of ratings) is not the same as Pre Calc (league output modifiers) and Auto Calc (league output modifiers). Recalc sets the player ratings based on historical stats and they stay there for the season if development and TCR are set to off.
The other two control the output of the game engine in an attempt to match the league totals to historical. Auto Calc tests against the league before the settings are made. That means if there are differences in talent between your league and historical, your league will still perform close to historical. If there are no differences in talent (replay settings) then Auto Calc over rides errors in the ratings.
Pre Calc does is not tested against your league. The modifiers are preset. This means that your league can have different output than historical if the talent is different. The variance from historical is the difference in talent combined with the errors in the ratings.
See my sig for my view of the proper use of the statistical accuracy screen.
