Week 18: September 21-October 2

Dangit, there was another crash. Luckily, only one week gone this time. So, this may be a different version of week 18 than you originally saw. Most notably, in the refresh, Muni staved off the clinching of their relegation through the end of the week. It will take a miracle for them to survive in the EL, but it is still possible.

September 26: Well, now I feel quite bad about not having saved earlier. In this new timeline, soon-to-be-2-time batting champ Fomo Tirma (Kupore, 1B) had an off-the-field accident that resulted in a concussion, the result of which is going to cause him to miss most of next season. Yikes.

Keleri 3, Lutrul 2: The 400th home run in the career of Keleri SS Poem Solicha. He's just 24, but has been an EL masher since his age 16 season with the Ransu Shockers. He missed a month earlier this season with a broken left wrist, and has now had two down years in a row, but he's still a player most teams would like to have. Keleri scored their three runs on three solo homers.

Semyof 1, Amnanache 0: a one-hit shutout for Semyof SP Tosolefi Loap, outdueling EL strikeout leader Laotso Tirionu of Amnanache. The only hit he allowed was a 3rd-inning double to Amnanache catcher Yatil Rima.

Mighty Oaks 4, Shunna Eagles 3: Mighty Oaks BC are the 2021 Elite League champions! It's been clear this was going to happen for a while now, but it was nice to see them be able to clinch at home and on their own terms, rather than with a Tsapna loss (Tsapna have, in fact, won thirteen games in a row). While last year's Oaks team won over 150 games, this team still accomplished the feat of leading wire-to-wire - they took the EL lead at a record of 5-1, and I don't think they were ever out of first place at any point after that. (At one point in June, the Spirits tied them, but never took the league lead.)

Not all that much to play for in the final week, aside from pride, and figuring out if Semyof or the Canaries can miraculously pull out of the relegation zone. Two tough series await Semyof, visiting the Spirits and hosting Fampalo, while the Canaries get Cheshek and Sitache. I'll also be looking to see whether Kupore and Akashemo will finish above .500, after winning 92 and 91 games last year, respectively. All 20 teams make their final home and away appearances:
