Jimmy Dykes is the subject of the attached image (somewhat colored?) of him with the 1924 Philadelphia Athletics. Dykes joined the Athletics in 1918 and stayed with them through 1932. He then joined the Chicago White Sox in 1933 and stayed until 1939 to complete a 22 year Major League career.

Dykes established himself as a starter in 1920 initially at second-base with Joe Dugan at third. It was in 1922 that he moved across to third-base the position he played most of his games. In 1923 and 1924 he was back at second, before moving to third in 1925. In 1927 he was starting at first with Sammy Hale manning third. In 1928, Joe Hauser started at first and Jimmie Foxx at third as Dykes lost his status as a line-up regular. In 1929 became a starter at his fourth different infield position at shortstop. Dykes saw out his remaining 3 years in Philadelphia back at third base as a starter. From 1933 through 1936 was a starter at third for the White Sox before finishing his final 3 seasons in a reserve position.

An All-Star in the first 2 contests of 1933 and 1934. Earned MVP consideration in 4 seasons, strangely not the years he was an All-Star. 1929 was probably his best season when he finished 6th in MVP voting, batting .327 with an On-Base average of 412 and slugged at a .539 rate with a .950 OPS. Also hit over .300 and was on-base over .400 in 1930.

Played in 2282 games in his 22 years accumulating 2256 hits at an average of .280. 11 times earned Hall Of Fame votes coming closest to induction in 1960.
