1955 Rookie Draft

The inaugural BBA rookie draft was held on the August 1, 1955.

In a smoky room filled with chalkboards, deep within the league's Liverpool office, managers and coaches scoured over reports and drafted 144 players over 15 rounds.

17 year-old Stephen Hughes of the East Yorkshire county team had the honour of being the first ever rookie draft pick. The young infielder has highly rated contact and is able to competently field a number of positions.
