Union League All-Stars Win Again
Tuesday, July 12, 1955
The annual All-Star Game has quickly become a British summer tradition, and as is tradition the Union League All-Stars won again.
Union League bats overpowered the National League players, 5 of the 10 hits being for doubles. Blackpool's Quinlisk Duffy and Leicester's Finley Stewart took much of the plaudits. Duffy appeared at bat twice, recording 2 hits and 1 RBI, whilst Finley got a double and 2 RBIs in his one at bat.
National League ace, Jimmy O'Toole, looked to be outsmarted on the mound, giving up 3 hits and 3 runs, throwing over 40 pitches in his opening inning. Whilst the Union League pitchers looked assured throughout, only Hull's Ciaran Russell giving up any runs.
