July 1-3, 2033: at Chicago Cubs (3)
Game 1: 11-5 W. WP-Stevenson (5-0). Starter-Lennon (4.1 10 5 5 0 6). HR-Y.Alvarez (10), Hardy (14). It was a back-and-forth affair until the Rays went forth in the 7th and broke a 5-5 tie and the Cubs didn't come back. Hardy's 3-run homer was the winner and he, Yordan and Pino had 3-RBI days to lead the onslaught.
Game 2: 2-3 L. LP-Watters (1-2). Starter-Acosta (6 3 1 1 1 3). HR-Pino (3/24). Short of RH bullpen options I went to Watters in a 2-2 game in the 7th and it was a mistake as he gave up the winning run, continuing his terrible season and wasting a brilliant return from the IL by Acosta.
Game 3: 9-3 W. WP-Stone (6-5, 5 4 3 3 3 7). HR-Rutschman 2 (16), Hardy (15), Pino (4/25). Massive games from Rutschman (3-5 with a double, 2 HR, 3 RBI) and Pino (3-4, walk, homer, 3 RBI) led the Rays to a series win over Chicago.
Team record: 50-33. And the Rays continue to creep closer to the Yankees, who dropped 2 of 3 over the weekend and now only lead the division by 1 1/2 games. Next up: Off to Fenway for 4 against Boston.
