The First Game
June 29, 1925 - México, Federal District

At 11:15 a.m. Gabriel Atristáin, the home plate umpire, called play ball! The fans packed the Parque Franco Inglés on the league's first day.

Luis Mellado's first pitch resulted in a flyout after David Franco hit it right to Santiago Casillas. It wasn't until the bottom of the third when Agraria scored the first ever run. With two outs, Santiago Casillas gets on base with a double to deep center. The next turn he goes all the way home on a base hit from Aquilino López.

Club México would return the favor the next inning. Jesús Castillo singled with one out, with a double from owner/manager/second-baseman Eduardo Ampudia taking him to third. Finally, Victor Trujillo hit the third consecutive hit of the inning for the run. They'd take a one run lead in the 6th, on a homer from Jesús Castillo.

Agraria quickly reclaimed the lead, first with Casillas tying it on a wild pitch, and then with Xavier Pérez bringing in José Larrera. Agraria would tack another one on with a double from Alfonso Hernández. Pérez would bring in another run in the bottom of the 8th to make it a 5-2 game.

However, México would prove why they were the best club of the amateur era. With one out, Jorge Velázquez singles. He gets out on a fielder's choice grounder from Basilio Herrera. Consecutive singles from Antonio Ramos, Arturo López and David Franco bring Herrera all the way home to make it 5-3. After Luis Mellado is replaced for Tomás García, Oscar Milla makes it four consecutive singles and brings up Jesús Castillo with the bases loaded. Castillo singled, and an error from allows both López and Franco to score and turn it around!

Baltasar Arredondo closes out the game despite allowing two hits, and the first game in LMB history is an epic comeback win for Club México!
