Wild, Cherry Lead at the Break
The All-Star Game was played just last night--story below--and so we are just two days away from the second half of the 2314 Nuka World League season. At the break, the Wild Gatorclaws hold a three-game lead in the North Bradberton, while the Cherry Ghoulrillas are division leaders of the South Bradberton.
Orange's RF Doman Northsea (.393/15/45/3.5 WAR) and Victory's SP Mucky Timmons (7-3, 2.46, 2.9 WAR) appear to be the early leaders for the top awards in hitting and pitching.
Speaking of Northsea, he said he hopes everyone remembers his performance in June if he ends up struggling this year. His performance certainly was memorable, as the 29-year-old Orange Tourists right fielder was a step ahead all other Nuka World League hitters and was named Batter of the Month.
On the month, he hit .453 with 10 home runs, 21 RBIs and 24 runs scored.
Northsea is hitting .393 so far this season with 45 RBIs and 38 runs scored. He has 75 hits including 15 home runs, 24 walks and .460 OBP.
June's premier pitcher was Melvin Teacup of Victory Cave Crickets. He pulverized Nuka World League hitters all month long and picked up the Pitcher of the Month award. The Cave Crickets star hurler fashioned a 5-0 record en route to the honor.
He had 35 strikeouts in 42 innings and compiled a 2.36 ERA. Other clubs hit .219 against him.
For the season, Teacup has compiled a 9-0 record with a 2.19 ERA.
Bah Gamnan is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest Nuka World League Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn't been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that he's putting up veteran-like numbers.
In June the Quartz hitter tagged opposing pitching for a .294 average with 30 hits, 1 home run and 6 RBIs.
This season in 47 games, Gamnan has hit at a .292 clip with 56 hits, 2 home runs, 19 RBIs and 25 runs scored.
Roz McBerger shined brightly tonight against the best talent that the NWL has to offer.
The all-star was named MVP for the annual mid-season showcase held at Fizztop Mountain Park at Nuka-Town USA, as his North Bradberton Division All-Stars downed the South Bradberton Division All-Stars by a count of 7-4.
"It's humbling to even play in a game like this with legends of the sport all around you," he said.
McBerger went 2 for 2 to capture the honor.
His career numbers show McBerger is currently carrying a .378 lifetime batting average with 40 home runs and 210 RBIs.
Half of the season has been played and now it's time for the All-Star game! It's a game where the fans will get to see their favorite players compete on the same field together, a game where the players themselves become fans and all of baseball comes together to celebrate one of the great traditions of the game -- the Nuka World League All-Star game. The North Bradberton Division and the South Bradberton Division will come together today to decide the title of the best league for this season.

In the Amusement Park League, teams still have a month and a half to make progress both as an organization and as individual players. In the North Division, the Nuka Bottling Plant Pack and Red Rocket Radrats are tied for 1st. The Grandcheter Flying Ants are in sole possession of 1st in the South Division, two games up on the Dunmore Ferris Wheels.
Alf Zimmerman may be much younger than other hitters in the Amusement Park League, but he performed like a seasoned veteran in June to win the Batter of the Month award.
The 23-year-old Nuka Jolly first baseman hit .357 with 7 home runs, 19 RBIs and 17 runs scored.
Question: Who was the #1 pitcher in the Amusement Park League in June?
Answer: That would be Dragon Chan of the Nuka Jolly Elves.
He excelled with a 4-0 mark and a 2.43 ERA in 5 starts, tossed 33.1 innings, fanned 21 and held opposing teams to a .266 average. That's exactly why the Amusement Park League scribes voted him the Pitcher of the Month.

All-Star Break Brings Excitement for 2314 Season
Vim! League put its best players on the field today, and the game certainly showed that.
In the annual Midseason Classic, the Harbor Division came out over the Fog Division by a final score of 8-5. Leading the way for the Harbor Division All-Stars was second baseman Jarrod Sebiess of Far Harbor.
"I go out there and do my best every game, All-Star game or not," the star said after his great show, going 2 for 3 with a double, two runs, and an RBI in the contest.
In 938 career games Sebiess has hit .304 with 1083 hits, 147 home runs, 622 RBIs and scored 593 runs. This is his 9th All-Star Game appearance. He was the 2304 Vim! MVP Award and Vim! Fresh Face Award winner.
Despite the success of the All-Star Game, Sebiess's Ghoul Whales are in 3rd place in the Harbor, six games back of leader Acadia. The Acadians have a five-game advantage over 2nd place Cranberry Island. In the Fog Division, both National Park and Eden Meadows are knotted up at 26-22, three games up on 3rd place Echo Lake.
Based on WAR, the probable leading hitter is 1B Hazzmatt Zuniga of Far Harbor. Zuniga leads the Vim! with a .405 average, is second with 13 home runs, and tied for 3rd with 36 RBI. His 3.7 WAR is 1.3 better than the second-best, the Hermit Crabs' SS Ricky Day-Z. For pitchers, Acadians' SP Wearya Going is having his best year in his 11th season in the Vim! League. Going (7-2, 3.62) has a 2.8 WAR, just 0.4 ahead of the Ghoul Whales' Keith Lighthouse and the Harbormen's Jason Woods.
Zuniga let his bat do the talking in June and the Vim! League heard him loud and clear. He made plenty of noise as he put together a .456 batting average and was named the top hitter of the month.
Zuniga's month to remember saw him accumulate 36 hits, 6 home runs, 18 runs batted in, 18 runs, 20 walks and a .570 on-base percentage.
At the moment, Zuniga is batting .405 with 13 home runs and 36 RBIs. He has played in 48 games and scored 40 times.
George Hickey was pure magic coming out of the Fog Crawlers bullpen in June. For his outstanding performance, he picked up the Vim! League Pitcher of the Month award.
Hickey posted a 3-0 mark and a 2.19 ERA in 10 relief appearances. In 12.1 innings, he allowed 13 hits, totaled 5 saves with 7 strikeouts and no walks.
To date Hickey has 6 saves with a 3-1 mark and 4.66 ERA. Opposing teams are hitting .303 against him.
June was a special time for Cranberry Island hurler, Jaylin Fox. It was such a good month that the Vim! League picked him the league's #1 newcomer and awarded him the Rookie of the Month trophy.
Last month the 23-year-old starter roared through the VIML with 2 wins and no losses and a 0.77 ERA as he struck out 21 in 35 innings and held opponents to a .200 batting average.
This season, Fox has compiled a 6-1 mark with a 2.62 ERA.
In the Mount Desert Island League, division leaders are the Brooke's Head Lights (Small Bertha) and the MS Azalea Shipwrecks (Old Longfellow).
Mercy Klimek put together a good June to earn the Mount Desert Island League Batter of the Month prize. A virtual unknown, he made the most of his chance to prove to Brooke's Head officials that he belongs on the big league roster.
The Lights right fielder posted a .389 batting average with 10 home runs, 22 RBIs and 18 runs scored.
Over the past month Yaz Zemsky has turned quite a few heads. He's young, talented and able to pitch with the established arms in the Mount Desert Island League. He proved all that and now he's been named June's Pitcher of the Month.
The rookie for the MS Azalea Shipwrecks posted 3-0 mark and a 0.79 ERA. In 3 starts he tossed 22.2 innings, permitted 13 hits and fanned 19 batters.
CBO Officials Pay a Visit
CBO Commissioner Nate Howard and other top officials in the front office, including Vice Commissioner Jimmy LaRue, paid a visit to Mount Desert Island, looking at several sites for what may be an indoor stadium.
The CBO recently added a domed stadium just north of the "Glowing Sea" where one of the original atom bombs exploded during the Great War. Commissioner Howard has indicated that a dome on the Island could be useful for times when the radfog rolls through.
Site locations scouted included Far Harbor, Acadia, Southwest Harbor, and Brooke's Head Lighthouse.
What does this mean? Well, Howard was not specific, but since there were architects and construction experts in the entourage, we would assume that work on a stadium will be announced soon. If that is the case, then the additional assumption is that the stadium is not for the Vim! League but the CBO. So there may be a CBO team relocating to the Island? Now that would be something worth cheering for!
