Even in the YouTube play thorough videos, I've never seen an in-depth explanation and it just seems skipped through after initially setting it.
It's another part of the game that has long required improvement and polish - something that is becoming familiar with FHM these days sadly.

They way I've always treated tactics, even before they added how well a tactic suits a player, is if my team is winning then they're fine. If they're losing then I need to change something. I determine what needs changed based off how my team is playing. If they aren't scoring much then I'll adjust the tactics that affect that. Same applies to every aspect of the game from D to Powerplay and Penalty Kill. Whatever areas the team is lacking in I'll make adjustments accordingly. Of course it's not always tactics that need changed. It may be lines that need to be shuffled in some way.
