I can tell you for a fact that coaching DOES matter. In an online league, I had a mid team. I did have an ace pitcher and one good hitter, but my coaching staff got along with each other, they were all ecstatic, which in turn help my players. I ended up winning 116 games and the World Series in my online league that season.
I also made sure my team didn't have disruptive players, had a captain, leaders, sparkplug, and a prankster, which also helped with my overall team chemistry which was also ecstatic.
Coaching alone does not win games. Coaching, chemistry, cohesion, good defense, and good pitching wins games.
Also coaches help with development, but in the end, the coaches, ALONE, are not going to give you wins just because they are all legendary.
