Edit Jan 17: to apologize to you RK. When I responded to your post I quickly scrolled up and looked at the first screen shot I saw in post #6. Reading too quickly I missed the "OP" in your post, sorry You are right about the image in the first post, that is quite well done and the only choice would be to remove some of the categories in that screen. In his situation he has reached the limits of his screen resolution. In that situation I still think the better solution would be to build a "RosterPitchRates2", split the categories between the two views, and use the edit function on the menu to place the two views together. While scrolling would work I'm still very much afraid if implemented it would the "easy" decision that made things worse, for the reasons I mentioned in the rest of this post.

Original post before Jan 17 edit..
With sizable columns? I think there is. Name, personality, overall, potential, and position all have a lot of dead space. If they'd center age, bats, and throws there's even more room. Even without centering there is still some for those three columns. My fear of scrolling is wide columns like "name" and "personality" are no longer a problem even though they waste so much space. They, well all columns, can just be locked at whatever default is as the screen will be scrollable (nothing to fix here, it's working as intended). The original screen shot posted here will look the same, waste the same space, and only add more columns that are off the screen.

Through column movement, that is the only way to do it now, I'd almost bet if he moved "personality" between "potential" and "leader" his "left" would pick up some space. If he didn't care about age being next to DOB, moving age between "T" and Overall would probably fix the small cutoff on DOB. The key here is you have to try different things and not be stuck on column X has to be next to column Y (and another reason to go with sizeable columns). So much space is wasted in columns with small descriptors, IE centering almost all 4 digit or less descriptions would allow better placement. With centering small descriptions, instead of L/R justifying them, thing like "age" and "B" wouldn't run together, and it would allow "age" to be on either side of "DOB" without running together.

Of course at the end of the day if you're playing on a small screen, like the one in the screen shot, there is only going to be "x" amount of space. Not much one can do about that, but like any size screen, adjustable column widths is the best solution.

Over the last few versions Matt and team have made efforts to better utilize the screen space. Many category words that were spelled out were coded to appear as a single letter. Some, if not all of those, changed from spelled out to single letters dependent on what else was on the screen. The only problem with these new single letters is the user couldn't select when to use them, the code did(that's what I'm afraid scrolling would do too). But at least the effort was made to make it better, and for that I thanked Matt, at the time and still do now. We need more of this, and the next logical step, IMHO would be to allow the user to drag the columns.

Please don't read any of this as coming in a harsh tone, it's not.
