Season's End: Languishing Lynx.
Since September is a half month, I'll combine it and August as we play for nothing at the end of the season, posting them back-to-back.
August kicks off against Mississauga. The kick off kicks our butts as our divisional rival sweeps us off the board as our anemic offense rears its ugly head. 0-3
Mexico City comes into town next and we bounce back a bit, taking two of three. 2-1
Continuing our games with out extra-southernly neighbor, we pop down to Tijuana-- a team that's really had our number this year. Sure enough, they outscore us 15-1 in the first two. We avoid the sweep, winning 8-2. 1-2
Home again for a 3 day, 4 game series against Havana, one of the few teams we've been good against. That stays the case here as we win the double header and take the final game too. 3-1
A six game road trip to Chicago and San Diego follows. All that travel trips us up as we come up with only 1 win in the 6, getting sweep by San Diego-- something I feel has happened twice already this year. 1-5
A quick homestand against Ottawa follows-- our fellow bottom feeder. We take two but fail to win the final. 2-1
Back on the road to faraway Hawaii. We take the first and then the rubber match for a rare back-two-back series win. 2-1
Home for top tier squad Guatemala. The boys could feel my fear and subsequently are swept in a rather uneventful three games. 0-3
Last series of the month. Two games away at The Big Train. We show up big, no pun intended, in the first game as Koch goes deep twice to put him at 28 dingers for the year in a 10-1 win. We take the second in extras, leaving the sweep open come Sept. 2-0
13-17 for the packed month of August.
