Owner Goals
Team Record:
Things are moving in the right direction and it looks like we have the talent to hit our preseason goal of making the playoffs. Our fans will be counting on us to push the team to get it done, so do what you have to do to make the postseason happen.
Extend your player:
I appreciate your work in convincing Jeremy Sidener to sign an extension. It's important to keep our top players, and I'm glad that you agree with me. He's really grown on me as a player.
Acquire a player:
I love it when you put in effort to satisfy the goals I set out for you. That's why it's so disappointing to see you completely ignoring my request to acquire a Hometown player. Make an effort to reach this goal, or the next thing you may need to do is update your CV.
Build your farm:
We may not be in a rebuild, but that doesn't mean you can ignore our prospects. Having a great minor league system will go a long way to keeping our team at the top of the standings. And from the looks of it, you definitely have not ignored them. Well done.
Improve your fan interest:
I don't think we're reaching our fans in the right way.
Improve your team record:
I was hoping for better results in close games. Please keep working on it.
2038 Draft
The last pick of the first round saw the Royals take a swing on HS 2B Steve Bakke from the Bronx. While his defense will need work, his combination of high WE and Intelligence give him a good chance at development success and reaching his projected plus contact and eye to go with a plus plus power and speed.
The Royals next five picks (including their supplemental pick for Azeem declining his qualifying offer) were:
• Round 1 (Suppl.), Pick 4 - SP Darryel Sabatino, age 20 out of college (Old Dominion University)
• Round 2, Pick 32 - CF Chris Morrow, age 18 out of high school
• Round 3, Pick 28 - SP Houston Duffus, age 21 out of college (Louisiana Tech University)
• Round 4, Pick 28 - SS Chris Ambrose, age 17 out of high school
• Round 5, Pick 30 - C Mike Woods, age 18 out of high school
The whole class will start in Rookie ball while only one player, 15th round pick Gilberto Barrera was unsigned.
In a class stacked with bats, it was a pitcher who was taken with the first overall pick, but bats followed in the remainder of the top five:
• Round 1, Pick 1 - Miami Marlins: SP Suljo Mirkovic, age 20 out of college (Crowley's Ridge College)
• Round 1, Pick 2 - Tampa Bay Rays: 2B Bobby Paulin, age 18 out of high school
• Round 1, Pick 3 - Detroit Tigers: SS Bailey Nartey, age 20 out of college (Lipscomb University)
• Round 1, Pick 4 - Washington Nationals: CF Morton Henrik, age 21 out of college (William Peace University)
• Round 1, Pick 5 - Pittsburgh Pirates: LF Jaheim Champ, age 21 out of college (Arizona State University)
