Free agency same day as the draft could be it too. Probably best to have the draft after FA file, but curious to see if it fixes itself once you get more seasons. I vaugely remember A/B compensation being based off two seasons (current and past) but can't find any information on it online

With regards to free agents and the draft, the way mine always worked was that the free agents would file after the draft (I think). The compensatory picks would be handed out in the 1902 draft (based on where the 1901 free agents wound up), but the draft order would be based on the 1902 final standings. I really liked it that way. I'm gonna see what my draft dates were, and change them to that and see if it does the trick.
