Is the draft turned on? Do you have history prior to 1901? Are the free agents actually any good? What type of league are you using?
Draft on. No history prior to 1901. Usual mix of free agents ranging from superstars to duds. Random debut league. I've played RD since it came out, and have always started in 1901. As I said, it has always worked for me in RD.

I just went through and slapped my own A's and B's together based on some stats. 14 A's (top 20%), 15 B's (top 21-40%) in a 73 free agent field. A/B setting is still on in Financials. Not confident it'll work, but we'll see when the next draft rolls around after the 1902 playoffs. I've always done it this way, and it has always worked, so I'm confuzzled as to what went wrong this time.

I've always run the draft a safe amount of time after the playoffs are over. I used to run it earlier, but then some draftees would show up in the playoffs, which was weird. This draft happened to run on the same day as the free agents declared, but I don't think the 1901 draft would have anything to do with how the compensation picks will be distributed in the 1902 draft. I'm gonna test in a parallel league with all the same settings, and see if the 1902 draft will work, but this has me baffled. That league is now at the start of 1901, IIRC.
