Suggestion for calculating position experience in historical leagues
From a different thread talking about player position experience in historical leagues...

Prior to OOTP 25, if recalc was turned on, position experience would always be reset to 0 and recalculated for the selected time frame (1,3,5, career). Now in OOTP 25, position experience is retained except when using historical transactions and lineups.
The OOTP 25 way is actually how I've always wanted it to work. I always viewed their fielding ratings (like range) as their ability and position rating as the combination of ability and experience. Even if I played historical with recalc to keep players in line with their career progression, if I moved a player into a new position to get some experience I hated how they lost that experience the next season. Many times I'd be left without a good player at a position since they couldn't really play there any more.
To take this once step further, what I'd really like is when selecting Entire Career for fielding ratings, is to have an option to limit their experience to their initial 1, 3, or 5 year period + the years that have already passed. That way it calculates their ability for their career, has the position experience that has already occurred, but they don't have the experience to play all the positions effectively. So rookie Robin Yount may have the ability to play CF instead of SS, but still has to accrue the experience. That way as a manager you still need to go through the growing pains of having Robin learn the new position.
To me, that makes the most sense, but as an option people can choose the behavior they want. Matt - would something like this make the calculation too convoluted?
