The Giants come from 3-0 down to win the World Series, their first since 2014, denying the San Antonio Avalanche (formerly Oakland A’s) their first World Series in San Antonio (and first since 1989) in their first playoff appearance (in the club’s first appearance since 2020).
San Francisco were taken the distance at every round, playing in 19 post season games, making victory all the sweeter!
Kansas City Postseason Stats
It was a bullpen meltdown that really cost the Royals in 2036 as only Jimmy Goodman (18 PA, 1 H, 1 BB) could be considered to have gone cold on the AL-leading offence.
The starting pitchers were let down by bad luck and bad defence (Daneil Nava with a 0.70 FIP- to 6.35 ERA and Cade Townsend having a 2.88 FIP- to 7.11 ERA) but it was really the midseason acquisitions given high leverage opportunities that failed – Kevin Azeem 3 H 1.1 IP; Shawn Bass 6 H, 3.0 IP, Mike Bowe, 1 H, 1.0 IP, 1 HR.
Owner Goals Review
There was only one 2036 goal and that was achieved in style, reaching the playoffs by winning the clubs 12th division titles, 5 of which have come in the Stewart era as part of an eight consecutive years of playoff baseball, and nine in total since Stewart took over, half of all Royal post season visits.
