England - First Division
After 13 wins in May,
Wolverhampton remain at the top of the First Division. A nine-game lossless streak early in the month keeps them in command, but a 5-7-1 end to it should have them worried. Their offense has considerably slowed down, slumping all the way down to 9th best in the league. LF William Philips (.287/.364/.356, 8 RBI, 0.6 WPA) and SS Aidan Jackson (.340/.386/.404, 8 RBI, 0.5 WPA) were the best hitters this month, though nowhere near as good as Smith and Coulter were last month. Wolves' pitching remains 2nd best, with Daniel Perrin pitching a league leading 95.1 innings. Perrin had a 3.30 ERA and 1.27 WHIP with 17 strikeouts to 32 walks this month. It seems like their offense has slowed down to were they "should be", but will their hot start be enough for them to win it all?
Preston North End have (slightly) closed the gap, now a game and a half behind Wolverhampton. All things considered, Preston have become the best rated team in the league. Their second place run is more a product of Wolves' bad run however, as Preston have been inconsistent. Nothing exemplifies this better than their month-best four-game winning streak early on, which was followed by a losing streak equally as long. The 3rd best offense continued raking in May, with 2B Daniel Barker (.365/.426/.538, 12 RBI, 0.9 WPA) and LF Connor Brown (.347/.436/.411, 17 RBI, 0.8 WPA) standing out with bat and glove. Their rotation is still 4th best, but struggled in May. Dane Maslen was their best pitcher this month, holding a 4.07 ERA and 1.66 WHIP after only 6 starts. Should their pitching improve, they have enough to get a third title!
At the bottom of the table, Derby has escaped the drop zone. Now it's Grimsby, Sheffield United and Rotherham Town who need to improve to avoid playing the test matches.

Scotland - Division One
Just two series left, and three teams are fighting it out.
Rangers lead the charge, and are favorites for a second title. An amazing 16-4-7 May allowed them to leapfrog Clyde and St. Mirren on their way to the top. This includes a nine-game lossless streak to start off, with wins against Dundee and 3rd LRV, who they'll face once again to close the season. 3B Douglas Gilbert (.396/.459/.573, 17 RBI, 1.5 WPA) and CF Graeme Noyce (.394/.462/.510, 23 RBI, 1.4 WPA) absolutely raked this month, but so did the rest of the 2nd best lineup. 2B Scott Stewart was the only regular starter who posted below-average numbers this month. Their rotation is also the 2nd best in the league, with Ben Boyd leading. Boyd started 11 games this month, holding a 2.94 ERA and 1.18 WHIP, striking out 13 and walking 16. The Glasgow outfit are favorites to win it all by 4% according to experts.
St. Mirren's bats seemed to have cooled off in the worst moment possible, leading to the club dropping first place. An 11-game lossless streak was snapped by Dundee May 30th. C Euan Hardie (.360/.410/.528, 20 RBI, 1.5 WPA) and 3B Daniel Morrison (.409/.449/.518, 13 RBI, 0.9 WPA) held their own, but the rest of starts need to be at their best to topple Rangers. Lefty Aaron Jones had a better month, with a 3.59 ERA, 1.45 WHIP with 19 K and 22 walks after 10 starts. St. Mirren face 3rd LRV and Celtic to end the season.
Heart of Midlothian are the darkest of horses, but their hot form could carry them to another title. The Hearts were 14-3-3 since May 10th, with their offense going off. 1B Finlay Christie (.357/.383/.464, 26 RBI, 1.3 WPA) and 2B Aidan Walker (.361/.418/.464, 12 RBI, 1.2 WPA) had great months, and they'll hope to be able to carry their club to some silverware. On the mound, Ben Little was as consistent as you can be, holding a 2.98 ERA despite a 1.39 WHIP, with 18 Ks to 16 walks after 11 starts this month. Also, the Hearts face relegation contenders Renton and Dundee to end the season, so we could see a very exciting finish!
On the flipside, Celtic absolutely imploded with a 8-17 month and are now favorites to go down!
