St. Louis Roughnecks End Clarke's Streak, Win 11-7
The St. Louis Roughnecks had a triumphant day at Predators Grounds, defeating the Pittsburgh Predators 11-7 and simultaneously ending Fred Clarke's impressive 32-game hitting streak. Clarke, the 25-year-old Pittsburgh right fielder, went hitless in 3 at-bats, marking the end of his remarkable run.
"Nothing personal against Clarke, we just wanted to win the game," said St. Louis manager Billy Arnold. "We did a great job keeping him off-balance and guessing."
When asked about the streak's end, Clarke expressed disappointment, saying, "I won't lie and say that I'm not disappointed about it, but I'd feel much better if we had won."
Clarke has been having a strong season, currently batting .347 with 3 home runs and 50 RBIs.
