"Caruthers put the ball into play and he really hit it hard," said Baltimore manager Andy Leonard after the game. "When you do that, you've got a good chance to do some damage. And that's what happened. I feel like we threw some good pitches, but he just put some good swings on the ball."
Caruthers had a remarkable day, singling in the 1st and 3rd innings, hitting an RBI double in the 5th, doubling again in the 7th, and capping off his performance with a two-run double in the 7th.
