George Davies Shuts Out Louisville in Complete Game Victory
George Davies delivered a masterful performance on the mound, leading the Boston Rebels to a 2-0 victory over the Louisville Captains. The right-hander tossed a 3-hit shutout, walking 1 and striking out 2 in a complete game effort.
"This is a game of adjustments and I made some good ones in this game," Davies said in a postgame interview with BNN sportswriters.
Despite the Rebels' challenging season, Davies showed his ability to control the game, holding Louisville scoreless through the entire contest. This victory improves his record to 6-19, with a 4.70 ERA for the year.
Clarke Extends Hitting Streak Despite Loss
Fred Clarke continued his remarkable hitting streak, extending it to 30 games with a hit in today’s game at Predators Grounds. The Pittsburgh right fielder was 1-for-3 in the contest, but despite his efforts, the Predators fell to the Cincinnati Wildcats, 7-2.
"Clarke was hitting everything we threw at him," said Cincinnati manager Malachi Beacham. "He is a tough out. Fortunately, things went our way in the ballgame and we came away with a win."
Clarke's day included being hit by a pitch in the 1st inning, grounding out in the 4th, singling in the 6th, and grounding out again in the 7th. He is currently batting .349 with 3 home runs, 49 RBIs, and has scored 82 runs this season.
Ewing Injured in Brooklyn's Loss to New York
Brooklyn Hitmen first baseman Buck Ewing will be sidelined for the next six weeks after suffering a strained abdominal muscle in today’s 6-4 loss to the New York Saints. The injury will require significant recovery time, forcing Ewing to miss a portion of the season.
Ewing has been a key offensive contributor for the Hitmen, hitting .320 with 2 home runs, 73 runs scored, and 69 RBIs this season. His absence will be a blow to the Brooklyn lineup as they continue to navigate the stretch run of the season.
