McAllister Shipped to Cincinnati
The Boston Red Sox announced that they agreed to terms with the Cincinnati Reds in a 7-player trade that has 30-year old SS Sport McAllister (career .310/.358/.414 in 96 PA at MLB; .351/.399/.434 in 471 PA at Triple-A in 1903), 24-year old C Jack Coveney (.424/.457/.485 in 35 PA at Double-A; 5th Rd selection 1902 draft), 31-year old C Joe Wall (career .234/.342/.358 in 904 PA at Double-A; .244/.320/.334 in 416 PA at Triple-A in 1903), and 31-year old RHP Chummy Gray (1-1 with 12 SV and 2.38 ERA in 48 1/3 IP at Double-A; career 20-7 with 19 SV and 1.63 ERA in 297 1/3 IP at Triple-A; 4th Rd selection 1898 draft) going to the Reds in return for 26-year old C Admiral Schlei (.281/.363/.446 in 391 PA at Triple-A; 2nd Rd selection 1903 draft), 23-year old 2B Jim Miller (.283/.368/.522 in 235 PA at Triple-A), 25-year old RHP Fred Applegate (0-0 with 1 SV and 2.57 ERA in 7 IP; 3rd Rd selection 1903 draft), and $100 in cash. Cincinnati retained 100% of Miller and Applegate's remaining contracts (combined $746).
