Donnelly Hits for the Cycle, Leads Saints to Victory
Jim Donnelly, third baseman for the New York Saints, achieved an impressive feat by hitting for the cycle in a 10-6 victory over the Brooklyn Hitmen at Hitmen Ballpark. Donnelly’s performance was a key factor in the Saints’ win, as he went 4-for-5 with a single, double, triple, and home run. His contributions included 3 runs batted in and 3 runs scored.
The game started with Donnelly drawing a walk in the 1st inning. He followed with a triple in the 3rd, grounded out in the 4th, doubled in the 6th, and capped his day with a three-run home run off pitcher Charlie Sweeney in the 7th. He completed the cycle with a single in the 9th inning.
“Now that I know what Jim is capable of, I’m going to expect it more often,” New York manager Wayne Slagle quipped to reporters after the game.
Donnelly’s standout performance brings his season total to 155 hits and a .321 batting average. He has accumulated 1 home run, 101 runs scored, and 58 runs batted in so far this season.
