You choose it via the menu shown in this screenshot - depending on which engine you choose it will take you to a different in game interface when you opt to 'Play Game' instead of 'Sim Game'. There are also some differences when using it purely for simulation and not viewing, last year the offense ran a little higher in the 2d engine than in the classic.
