Stratton Shines at the Plate in Baltimore's 13-5 Win Over Bandits
Scott Stratton delivered a remarkable performance at the plate, leading the Baltimore club to a 13-5 victory over the Columbus Bandits. The starting pitcher went 5-for-6, driving in five runs and putting the game out of reach. Stratton singled in the 1st inning, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, added a two-run double in the 6th, and drove in two more with a single in the 7th. He struck out in his final at-bat in the 9th.
"Stratton was too tough to get out today," said the Bandits' manager. "No matter what we threw him, he hit it. And he hit some good pitches, too."
Stratton has also been impressive on the mound this season, boasting a 9-4 record with a 3.23 ERA over 14 starts.
Turner's 23-Game Hitting Streak Ends in Wildcats' 6-5 Loss to Hitmen
Tuck Turner's impressive 23-game hitting streak came to an end as the Cincinnati Wildcats fell to the Brooklyn Hitmen, 6-5. Turner went hitless in five at-bats, unable to extend the streak further.
Despite his frustration after the game, Turner downplayed the streak's significance. "The hitting streak was one of those things where it was fun while it lasted, but I'm not going to lose any sleep about it tonight," he said. "On the other hand, I am going to lose sleep about dropping this game today."
Turner remains one of the league's top hitters this season, with a .369 average, 80 hits in 217 at-bats, 29 RBIs, and 30 runs scored. The Wildcats will be looking for him to bounce back as they seek to regain their momentum.
