New Openings!
BatFlip Baseball is looking for one GM; an additional spot or two may open in the coming days.
About the League:
BFB has been going for about 5 real-life years. The founder of the league stepped back as commissioner prior to the last in-game season (but is still part of the league as a GM), and I just completed my first season as the commissioner.
We use MLB teams & formats. We recently revised the Constitution to help mirror real-life MLB rules; for example, small-market teams are part of a competitive balance pick system and we use a draft lottery that mirrors the MLB format. Draft picks cannot be traded (except for competitive balance picks which can be traded once). However, we do not implement real-life penalties such as the "Cohen Rule," etc.
This season, we also revised the national media agreement to make it more aligned with the real-life MLB local/national media rights split. Large market teams still enjoy a competitive advantage when it comes to budget. This coming offseason will be the first adjustment, and a second adjustment will come next offseason.
You can read the
League Rules here.
In all, it is an engaged league and we are looking for those who want to be a part of that! We have discussed participation incentives but have not yet implemented any, and will not do so this offseason. Even without participation incentives, 8 GM's achieved 100% participation in past in-game season, and 7 others were at 85% or better.
We currently use OOTP 25. We just finished the 2042 regular season. The 2042 playoffs are about to start and I am looking to fill openings now so the new GM is in place once the offseason begins!
Currently, we have
one opening:
Cleveland: The Guardians last made the playoffs in 2040, finishing with 95 wins and the AL Central title. They have regressed the past two years, winning 84 games in 2041 and 77 games in 2042. They are an average market with a below-average fan base and were awarded a second-round competitive balance pick in last year's draft. Although not guaranteed, they are likely to receive one again this year.
I have uploaded some pictures to give a
flavor of the team. The first three pictures are of the team's highest rated players; one of them will be injured through the start of next season. The fourth picture is of the team's highest rated prospect - this is the only prospect in the top 100, unfortunately (Cleveland's minor league system ranks 24th of 30 teams). The remaining pictures are to share financial info.
The financial projection is not as scary as it seems. There is a $7m boost coming to all teams as part of the national media rights update. One player has a manageable buyout, and others could be arbitration casualties. The new GM will have to weigh the potential for extending some young talent while maintaining payroll flexibility. Or maybe the new GM will tear it down.
Please DM me if you would be willing to take over this team!
