As we approached the end of June, we were 6 games back of the Reds as we opened up a 3 game series in Cincinnati and we really came through sweeping the Reds and July 1st found us just 2 1/2 back and feeling much better about the club.
We are 2nd in runs and 2nd in runs allowed. We only have 1 pitcher with an ERA over 4 and if I had to guess, our pitching will win out in the long run over the Reds who rely on their offense.
Last year, 6 different players hit over 50 HR's but this year, nobody is on a pace for 50. Last year exploded offensively but this year it's come down quite a bit.
We haven't a single game to injury this year, not one. I can't see that holding up much longer, but our roster is made of players who are very healthy historically.
