John Ward Leads Louisville to 14-5 Victory with 5-Hit Performance
Louisville Captains first baseman John Ward was the star of the day at Boston Fields, collecting 5 hits in 6 at-bats and leading his team to a commanding 14-5 win over the Boston Rebels. Ward's strong showing at the plate set the tone for a dominant offensive performance by the Captains.
"I told the guys in the dugout, just be thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere," Ward said after the game. "Seems like it worked out well for us today."
The Rebels' manager, Sam Trammell, expressed frustration with his team's pitching, stating, "We gave up too much plate. Every hitter in the league will rip you when you do that."
Ward’s 5-hit day included singles in the 1st, 4th, 6th, 8th, and a run-scoring RBI single in the 9th. He flied out once in the 3rd inning. With today’s performance, Ward now holds a .314 batting average for the season, along with 1 home run and 43 RBIs.
