There is actually an option when importing players from the database into the free agent pool that asks if you want the player to be put into the draft pool. This only applies when you import them in their first year.

Ex: When importing Vladimir Guerrero from 1996, it will ask you "import as a rookie" meaning you can place him in the amateur draft.

You will have to edit the ratings though through the "edit all free agents" feature because the talent ratings will be off.

Don't know about entire draft classes though.
