That's the problem with college sports. Everyone thinks short term.
The legality, morality & fairness of the rules of college sports regarding compensation & transferring was known 50 years ago. The current chaos could have been avoided it they moved to correct matters gradually. And now the denigration of 60-75 football programs to the lower echelons is imminent. But none of the decision makers at those lower schools can organize themselves to ensure their survival.
I was, and still am, all for the reforms in eligibility & NIL in college sports. But I had also thought necessity was the mother of invention. Thus, these
college educated leaders would come up with a way to avoid their annihilation & remain competitive. But I gave them too much credit. They all think an invite to the SEC or Big T1e8n is on its way & they will be among the survivors.
