Gleason Shines in Cardinals' 5-0 Shutout of Roughnecks
Chicago Cardinals pitcher Kid Gleason delivered a superb performance today, leading his team to a 5-0 victory over the St. Louis Roughnecks with a complete-game shutout at Roughnecks Field.
Gleason, who was clearly in high spirits throughout the game, allowed 5 hits and 2 walks but maintained his composure. “5 hits?” he said with a laugh after the game. “Listen, I’d be happy with a 30-hitter, as long as it was a shutout.”
The 25-year-old right-hander’s season record now stands at 8-11, with a 3.96 ERA in 20 starts. He has struck out 52 batters over 154.2 innings, demonstrating his effectiveness despite the occasional hit.
Hitmen's Manning Injured in Loss to Lakers
The Brooklyn Hitmen’s injury woes continue as pitcher Jack Manning was sidelined in today’s game against the Detroit Lakers with a strained forearm. Manning is expected to miss approximately 6 weeks due to the injury.
This season, Manning has been a valuable asset both on the mound and at the plate. On the pitching side, he has made 21 starts with an 11-9 record and a 3.38 ERA. At the plate, he has appeared in 38 games, batting .337 with 1 home run.
The loss of Manning adds to the mounting injury troubles for the Hitmen, who are struggling to maintain their performance amid the setbacks.
