There are, of course, multiple other possible factors but aging is the most likely. I'm curious why you want that setting on if you'd prefer not to have regression results?

Random debut requires regression. Otherwise, modern players will simply repeat the same season over and over till the game decides to retire them. I want a guy like Koufax to play longer than his real life final season, but again, I don't want the game to simply repeat his last season over and over till he's 45. The development engine prevents this. This may have been happening all along over the years of my playing this way and I just didn't pay enough attention.
