Bob Black Dominates as Cardinals Blank Detroit in 1-0 Victory
Bob Black of the Chicago Cardinals put on a masterful display at Cardinals Ballpark, tossing a complete game shutout and holding the Detroit Lakers to just 2 hits in a 1-0 victory. Black, who struck out 6 and walked 3, kept the Detroit offense off balance throughout the game.
"He stayed aggressive and his ball was really moving," Detroit manager Brian Valdez remarked after the game, acknowledging Black’s control and precision.
Black credited his strong outing to his ability to consistently make good pitches. "If I make good pitches, I'm going to get some outs," Black said. "I was making good pitches the entire game."
Black, who has had an up-and-down season, improved his record to 6-11. He has struck out 66 batters while walking 65 in 162.2 innings, and his ERA now stands at a solid 3.15. This dominant performance is a reminder of his potential when he's on top of his game.
