Radford Suffers Thumb Injury, Out 4-5 Weeks
Boston Rebels fans received tough news today as star right fielder Paul Radford fractured his thumb while making a defensive play. After consulting with the team doctor, it was confirmed that Radford will be sidelined for 4-5 weeks. Rebels manager expressed his disappointment but noted that the team must move forward. "You can't make excuses in baseball, because there's always a game tomorrow," he said.
So far in 1890, Radford is batting .252 with 1 home run, 20 RBIs, 26 runs scored, and a solid .375 OBP.
McMahon Shuts Down Baltimore in 3-0 Victory
Boston Rebels pitcher Sadie McMahon put on a clinic today, baffling the Baltimore Barons with his mix of curves and changeups in a 3-0 shutout. McMahon allowed 4 hits, 4 walks, and struck out 4 in a complete-game effort.
"He had the changeup working," said Baltimore manager Roberto Mandujano. "You knew it was coming and still grounded out -- and then he threw it even slower."
McMahon credited his success to keeping the ball low. "If you don't do that, they'll make you pay," he told reporters.

"He threw strikes and was always around the plate," said Detroit skipper Brian Valdez. "The ball was doing everything he wanted it to do."

Orr's Hitting Streak Reaches 20 Games
Dave Orr kept his 20-game hitting streak alive today, notching a hit in Louisville’s 7-0 win over the Detroit Lakers. Orr drove in a run with an RBI single in the 5th inning, extending the streak to 20 consecutive games.
"I'm happy I kept the streak going," Orr said, adding, "Honestly though, I'm looking forward to going home and not thinking about this for the rest of the day."
The 31-year-old first baseman is hitting .367 this season with 11 hits, 5 runs scored, and 10 RBIs.
