Mid-Season Update: Conference Races Remain Tight
As the 1890 season reaches the two-month mark, both the American and National Conferences are tightly contested.
In the American Conference, the Columbus Bandits have extended their lead to three games over the Baltimore Barons. The Bandits' solid performance has them firmly in control as they head into the middle part of the season.
Meanwhile, the National Conference remains a nail-biter, with the Detroit Lakers maintaining a slim one-game lead over the Brooklyn Hitmen. The tight race reflects the competitive nature of the league as the season progresses.
Bob Caruthers Takes Home Second Batter of the Month Award
Columbus Bandits slugger Bob Caruthers has been named Batter of the Month for May, marking his second time receiving the accolade this year. Caruthers delivered an impressive performance throughout the month, hitting .357 with 2 home runs, 20 RBIs, and 21 runs scored in 23 games.
"I've been around the Professional Baseball Association long enough to know that consistency requires hard work," Caruthers said. "It’s rewarding to see that effort pay off, even on days I’m not on the field."
For the season, Caruthers is batting .362 with 3 home runs and 39 RBIs, and he has crossed the plate 34 times in 42 games.
Buck Ewing Named National Conference Batter of the Month
