Pud Galvin Dominates in 5-0 Shutout Against Baltimore
Pud Galvin of the Cincinnati Wildcats delivered a masterful performance at Barons Park today, leading his team to a 5-0 victory over the Baltimore Barons with a complete-game shutout. Galvin limited the Barons to just six hits and struck out three batters without issuing a walk.
"That's one thing that has never changed in this game—pitching can control hitting," said Wildcats manager Tyler Horan. "Pud knows exactly what he's doing. He's not going to throw you a good pitch until you make him throw one."
Galvin’s win brings his season record to 3-5. Over nine starts, he has pitched 71.1 innings, struck out 32 batters, and holds a solid 2.90 ERA.
Columbus Bandits' Al Atkinson to Miss Time with Shoulder Tendinitis
Columbus Bandits starting pitcher Al Atkinson will be sidelined for three weeks due to shoulder tendinitis, sustained during his team's win over the St. Louis Sox. Atkinson was injured while pitching late in the game.
This season, Atkinson has been a reliable presence on the mound, posting a 5-3 record with a 3.81 ERA in nine starts. His absence will be a significant blow to the Bandits as they navigate the upcoming games.
Louisville Captains' Deacon McGuire Injured, Out for 2 Weeks
The Louisville Captains will have to manage without their main catcher, Deacon McGuire, who sustained a herniated disc in his back during a loss to the Chicago Cardinals today. The injury occurred in a collision at a base, and McGuire is expected to be out for the next two weeks.
McGuire has been contributing with a .242 batting average, one home run, 14 runs scored, and six RBIs this season. His absence will be felt as the Captains look to fill the void behind the plate.
