Yes, it works for all the versions of the game since the name files format changed. You just have to load it, OOTP will overwrite the names.xml file and default world.xml file every time the game gets updated, so you have to either redownload every time or you do what I do, and keep a copy of the modded files in the same directory so you an just reload them every time the game is changed.
Only impacts new saves not old ones (the game updates) but still.
